WhatsApp for Windows Phone: more improvements with the latest Beta version

whasapp for windows phone beta 2 16 102The developers of WhatsApp have just released a new updated version of our favourite app, and with this latest update we are now at version 2.16.102. What changes with this new Beta of WhatsApp for Windows Phone devices? If you use WhatsApp frequently probably you already know that, thanks to the previous update, the image gallery has become much more faster.

Well, this latest 2.16.102 version further changes the way you can use the Gallery: when logging on to it you will be directed to folders and not anymore to the All Images section. Another change that has been brought with this new update concerns the messages: in fact it isn’t possible anymore to copy the messages received in the group messages. But before you try to install this latest Beta from the Windows Store, we remind you that this is a closed Beta, so you will have to wait for the public version of the app, which we are confident will be released soon.

By now everyone knows that WhatsApp is the most successful instant messaging app in the world (with over one billion monthly users, and  more than 100 million calls per day, which means over 1,100 calls a second), but this success has a downside. We are talking about hackers. In Europe there is alarm for a new malware able to spoof the user interfaces of WhatsApp, Google Play and Uber in order to steal credit card information.

According to security vendor FireEye, for the moment this latest malware has interested Android users in Italy, Denmark and Germany and works through a phishing campaign over SMS. As we said, this malware creates fake users interfaces that ask for credit card information. These data will then be sent to the hacker. And unfortunately this is just the last one in a long series. FireEye reports that in Europe there are other 55 malicious programs that use the same overlay technique.

whatsapp new beta for androidThe developers of WhatsApp never stop updating our favourite instant messaging app, and nearly every day they release a new version of the service. Sometimes these updated versions bring major updates, adding new features to the app, sometimes the new versions just fix some bugs and improve the overall performance of the app. Anyway, by keeping your device updated with the latest version of WhatsApp you’ll be sure that it works properly.

Today we are going to talk about the latest 2.16.141 APK of WhatsApp for Android devices. This latest beta version of WhatsApp doesn’t bring any new features, but, as we said, fixes some bugs. The download file weighs about 28.68 MB and its build number is 451231. How can you install it on your Android device? In two ways. If you are a beta tester, you can download this latest APK file straight from the Google Play Store. If not, you can download this latest 2.16.141 updated  version of WhatsApp from other safe sites such as APKPolice.com or APKMirror.com.

We already know that WhatsApp is currently the most used instant messaging app in the world, and the number of its users (which now are 1 billion) will surely increase in the near future. This app, which was born mainly to exchange messages with your family and friends, now is actually used a lot also to call our contacts. Don’t you believe it? Well, you have to, considering that now the app hosts more than 100 million calls per day, over 1,100 calls a second.

The announcement was given this week by the Company through a blog post, saying: “For more than a year, people have used WhatsApp Calling to talk with friends and family around the world. It’s a great way to stay in touch, especially when connecting with people in other countries, or when messages alone won’t do. Today, more than 100 million voice calls are made every day on WhatsApp – that’s over 1,100 calls a second! We’re humbled that so many people have found this feature useful, and we’re committed to making it even better in the months to come.

WhatsApp for iOS: new major changes will soon be introduced

whatsapp for ios music sharing and larger emojiWhatsApp, the most popular instant messaging app in the world, is about to bring radical, useful changes that its users will certainly appreciate a lot. According to Mackerkopf, a German website, the iOS version of the app will soon receive some new important features such as support for larger emoji, music sharing, public groups and mentions. Thanks to this latest revamp, iOS users of WhatsApp (and we hope that these updates will soon be extended to the other platforms that support the app) will soon be able to share songs with their contacts. Furthermore, they will have the ability to share music stored locally and also from Apple Music. And, as we said, that’s not all.

WhatsApp has also added larger emojis. Fans of Apple probably already know that this latest feature has been recently introduced by Apple with iOS 10. Anyway, if the rumours are confirmed, the size of these emojis will be sensibly bigger: three times larger than regular ones! And what about the much awaited Video Calling feature? AndroidPit has recently published a report stating that some users have sent them screenshots showing a video call button at the top of the chat.

While we are waiting to use these fantastic new options, this week WhatsApp announced that now the app hosts more than 100 million calls per day. This achievement is really incredible, considering that the calling feature was introduced only in February 2015. It was the Company itself to announce the news in a blog post, saying: “For more than a year, people have used WhatsApp Calling to talk with friends and family around the world.

WhatsApp for Android: the updated 2.16.133 version is available for download

wa for androidToday the developers of WhatsApp have released another updated version of our favourite instant messaging app,  and, even if we are pleased, we are not surprised, since the service receives updates almost every day. The update we are going to talk about today is for the Android platform, that is the one used by the majority of WhatsApp users.

This latest APK Beta of WhatsApp for Android devices is number 2.16.133, it weights about 28MB and can be installed on Android 2.1 and higher devices. Unfortunately this time the update doesn’t bring any new features, but just the usual bug fixes and performance improvements, but as no changelog has been released, we can’t be sure that there isn’t anything else coming soon.

How can  you install this latest 2.16.133 APK on your Android device? If you are registered to the beta testing program, you can already find it on the Google Play Store. Otherwise, the APK download file is also easily available on some mirror sites such as apkpolice.com or apkmirror.com. In this case, always remember to enable the Unknown Source option (you can find it under Settings > Security) and follow the onscreen instructions.

While WhatsApp keeps growing and it is now part of our everyday life, many people are wondering what will be the future of this Facebook-owned company, and especially if Mark Zuckerberg is planning to merge the two services. This week, on occasion of the last shareholders meeting, it has been Mark Zuckerberg in person to make it clear that it won’t happen, stating that “We’re not planning on combining them,”.

To make the situation even more clear, Zuckerberg also added “We think that the messaging space is incredibly important and very large, and what we’re seeing is that even in the countries where WhatsApp or Messenger are growing the fastest, the other one is also typically growing.”

WhatsApp: new, controversial, emojis will soon be available (or maybe not)

rifle emojiLet’s be honest: who hasn’t ever used an emoji? Everyday we use instant messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, Viber and so on, and we often replace words with a nice emoji, don’t we? That’s why the success of these symbols is constantly growing. They really help us to express ourselves.

Today we have some news that might interest you. This week the Unicode Consortium (the organization that select the symbols you get on your devices) has published the Unicode 9.0, adding about 70 new emojis, but triggering strong critics from both Microsoft and Apple. What’s happened? Among the new emojis there is also a rifle. So? It seems that the two giant companies have no intention to include it among their symbols.

Considering what has just happened in the USA (for example, the Orlando’s shooting), this decision doesn’t surprise us very much, we can even agree with it. But the question is: if they don’t like the idea of having a rifle among their emojis, why they don’t remove the already existing pistol? But let’s take a step back. Unicode Consortium has planned to add in Unicode 9.0 the rifle symbol as part of a set of emoji relating to winter sports.

According to a report from Buzzfeed, Apple immediately objected: “Apple started the discussion to remove the rifle emoji [and] told the consortium it would not support a rifle on its platforms and asked for it not to be made into an emoji.” Buzzfeed also added that a member of the Unicode Consortium said: “I heard Apple speak up about it and also Microsoft“. Despite these critics, the rifle emoji will still be included in Unicode 9.0, but with some changes: it will have only black and white images.

Obviously, now the debate is open, with several comments on the web. As we said above, if you use any instant messaging app such as WhatsApp, Telegram and others, you certainly have noticed that there are emojis of bombs or pistols. So the question is: why only the rifle emoji has been so criticized? Anyway, forgetting for a moment this controversial topic, the new emojis will include also a croissant, a baguette, a cucumber, a carrot, kebab and kiwi.

WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger: what is Zuckerberg planning for their future?

whatsapp and facebook futureOn Monday, during the last annual shareholder meeting, important decisions have been taken concerning both Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp. During the meeting it was Mark Zuckerberg in person who announced that there is no plan to merge these two popular services, saying: “We’re not planning on combining them,” and adding that “We think that the messaging space is incredibly important and very large, and what we’re seeing is that even in the countries where WhatsApp or Messenger are growing the fastest, the other one is also typically growing.” Zuckerberg has also explained the main differences between the two apps: “WhatsApp is much more utilitarian, it’s very basic and focused on just the feed and having a simple tool that people can use,” while Facebook, according to Zuckerberg, allows users to express their emotions and creativity in a better way.

The fact that many people use both WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger seems to confirm Zuckerberg’s opinion that it is better to keep them separate because “We think that the bigger opportunity to go after is to provide our community with both tools rather than try to combine them together and try to make it one size fit all.” Talking about the future of WhatsApp, Zukerberg also stated that “We’re starting stage two with WhatsApp and Messenger; maybe you message a restaurant for a reservation or you message a company with a question about their product,”.

During this latest Facebook’s annual general meeting, investors have also re-elected the company’s eight directors. Among them, it was quite controversial the re-election of Peter Thiel, LinkedIn co-funder, because of his open support of presidential candidate Donand Trump. During the meeting investors have also had the opportunity to ask some questions about the Company’s activities. Furthermore, Mark Zuckerberg has proven once again that the rumours about a possible change of ownership are completely false since he has firmly stated that he has no intention to resign using these clear words: “I will be involved in running Facebook for a very long time,”
