WhatsApp for Windows Phone: the latest version brings important updates

WA for Windows Phone 2 17 52 updateWindows Phone users have more reasons than ever to install (or update) WhatsApp on their devices. Thanks to this latest 2.17.52 version of WhatsApp that has just been released for Windows Phone devices, the media sharing cap limit has been considerably increased, so now users will be able to share 30 files, a noticeable improvement compared to the previous limit of 10.

The same update has been recently added to the iPhone platform, while Android users can find it only in beta versions of the app. If this is a huge improvement for the Facebook-owned app, Mspowerusers reports that this latest update of WhatsApp adds also a redesigned home page. According to Mspoweruser the new design involves switching to Microsoft’s new Pivot style already seen in other native apps such as Photos and People.

Finally, WhatsApp developers intend to revamp also the Status Messages feature of the app, as we have already seen in the latest beta of WhatsApp. In the future WhatsApp users will receive notifications every time one of their contacts changes its status. The great thing is that WhatsApp will allow you to mute and unmute the status notifications for specific users and, more important, let you see the mute list when required.

Furthermore, the new Status Message feature will add the ability to reply to your contacts’ status messages. Along with these major updates, this latest 2.17.52 version of WhatsApp for Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 brings also the usual bug fixes and performance improvements. This is the complete WhatsApp changelog of the changes added with this latest update:

  • Brings big UI tweak on homepage. Such as underlined UI similar as the Microsoft People and Microsoft Photos app have. Same concept for the user profile page also.
  • GIF Support.
  • UI changes under camera viewfinder too.
  • Now there is a new unread message count indicator too on chats tab.
  • Also increase the sharing limit from 10 images to 30 images, so you can now share more image.
  • Brings some bug fixes and performance improvements.

It is already possible to download this latest 2.17.52 version of WhatsApp straight from the Windows Store.
