Whatsapp for computer windows 7Getting WhatsApp running on a computer with Windows 7 is a little bit tricky. WhatsApp doesn’t provide a native application from their website to run on Windows, but you can still run WhatsApp on a Windows PC. I’ll show you a few tricks below.

The first way to run this messaging application from your Windows 7 PC is to download Andy. Andy is a free Android emulator that will let you run Android apps directly on your Windows 7 machine. It works a lot better than BlueStacks, so I highly recommend it.

Andy comes complete with Google Play store. Once you get Andy installed by following the instructions, you can download WhatsApp from the Google Play store just like on an Android device. You can use any Google account to login to the play store. You probably already have a gmail or YouTube account, if so you can use it, if not you can easily register one.

If you use the same Google account in Andy that you use on your Android device, all of your data will be synced between devices. That means all of your WhatsApp messages will be saved on both devices. So when you’re ready to leave you can pick up your conversations on your Android phone.

Using Andy is great because you can sync your data and messages. If you don’t have an Android device you will probably just want to install the Watsapp program on your Windows 7 machine. This program is free and will allow you to access the WhatsApp network for messaging. The only downside is that your conversations and data won’t be synced like with Andy.

Once you download Wassapp you can follow the instructions on the screen to get started. You can register a new account or use your current one. You will be able to login to Wassapp just like you do on WhatsApp.

Finding your password for your WhatsApp account might be a little tricky. Sometimes it’s the IMEI number on your phone, but not always. You can always use the forgotten password link in Wassapp to reset your password and begin using the WhatsApp network from your old account.

Apart from text messaging services, Whatsapp can be used for sending user’s location, audio, video messages and images. The California-based company was established in the year 2009 by Jan Koum and Brian Acton. The popularity of Whatsapp has been growing right from its introduction. In February, 2014, Facebook Inc. made a deal of 19 billion USD for acquiring Whatsapp Inc.

Whatsapp can be used in Blackberry 10, Microsoft Windows Phone, Symbian, Nokia Asha platforms, Apple iOS, Blackberry OS, and Google Android. But as to Windows 8 Os,  an “official” version for Microsoft OS has not been release yet. However, there are a couple of short-cuts to solve this problem. The typical solution is to install Bluestacks on your Pc, an Android emulator for Pc, that can virtually run any Android app, as explained here. But today, after months, even years, of waiting we finally got it: WhatsApp developers have released a version of the Web service , called “Whatsapp Web” that you can use directly from the browser of your Windows 8 Pc, without having to depend on strange third-party solutions.

The only drawback of this version of WhatsApp Web, is that it currently only works on Chrome, but otherwise it works wonders and requires no complicated setup. Try it now and you will not regret. To access WhatsApp online you must have first downloaded the latest version of the app on your smartphone. You can use an Android phone, a Windows Phone or BlackBerry. Currently the iPhone is not supported because of the restrictions of Apple’s mobile platform but, who knows, things could also change in the future.

So, just visit the website of WhatsApp Web from your computer using Chrome, and then scans the QR code that appears on the top left with your smartphone. If you do not know how to do it, open WhatsApp, press the button menu located in the upper left (the icon with three dots) and select the voice WhatsApp Web from the box that will appear.

What about installing and using Whatsapp works on a Windows Phone 8? Here some special tricks use Whatsapp at its best, on your Windows 8 Phone:

Setting the profile picture, name and status of the user: The name and profile picture will be visible to others with whom you will chat on Whatsapp. The status feature indicates of what a particular user is doing so that he/she can keep up with the time. For changing the number, you need to go to “change my number” from the account option in settings. You should enter both the old and new numbers and tap on accept to continue.

Using the voice messaging service: You can easily communicate with a particular contact or make group chat with the help of voice messaging. This service allows you to deliver time-sensitive and important messages. You need to keep on holding the microphone icon for using the Voice Messaging service. After receiving a voice message you need to tap on the play button for listening to the message. The messages that have not been listened to will show a green microphone while those that have been listened will show a blue microphone.

Adding the contacts to Whatsapp: Whatsapp employs a quick and easy method of finding your friends. The phone numbers that exist in the address book are automatically read and added to Whatsapp. On a Windows Phone, the contacts having Whatsapp accounts will appear automatically in Favorites screen. When adding contacts living in foreign locations, the phone numbers should be added in international format. The full phone number should be preceded by the Country Code. Any leading zeros from a phone number should be omitted.

Blocking a contact: If you wish to stop receiving messages on Whatsapp from specific contacts you can block them. For blocking the contacts you need to tap “blocked contacts” from the settings option. To select the contacts you need to tap the “+”. For accepting the changes you need to tap check marks.

Some Tips and Technical Suggestions on using Whatsapp on Windows Phone
For the novice users of Whatsapp, here are some handy tips that will certainly be useful in getting started:

To view more facts you need to tap the name of a contact: Tapping the name of a contact will give you quick access to profiles. This will also give you more information about that particular contact and you can check out the media that has previously been transferred in conversations.

Sending location information to a recipient: If you are not aware of the location of a particular contact then it would be pain to meet up with individuals. The current location of a contact can be determined easily by sending the “location” as an attachment in a conversation.

Adding groups and broadcasts: Whatsapp provides an easy way to help people communicate with groups of colleagues, friends, and family. Whatsapp also allows adding group subject and photo which makes it even more fun to chat in a group. The broadcast feature helps the users to send a single Whatsapp message to several contacts at the same time.

Why? It can let you do more than what you can with the stock SMS function. It allows voice messaging, group chat, and sending other kinds of media. What makes it better than other instant messaging apps? Well, it is lightweight when it comes to features. But it makes up for it with reach and stability.

First of all when it comes to Windows and Whatsapp, we must clarify that there are two distinct versions. The first is the classic version of Windows OS for PC that requires a special procedure for the operation of Whatsapp. The second one is the more recent version specifically created for phones and smartphones, indeed called “Windows Phone“. In this article we will talk about both.

Whatsapp on Windows OS (Pc)
Let’s start from the standard installation of Whatsapp on your Windows operating system for your computer (PC). Currently there is no official version of WhatsApp for Windows (PC), so to use WhatsApp you must use an “emulator” software.

The best emulator to use to run Whatsapp on Windows, as we’ve already discussed here in this article, is Bluestacks App Player. This is an Android emulator that allows you to run basically any Android app designed for mobile phones, smartphones and tablets equipped with Android operating system, on computers where you installed Microsoft Windows (or Mac). First of all so you have to download and install Bluestacks App Player from this page. After you have downloaded and installed Bluestacks App Player, proceed with the installation of WhatsApp by following this procedure:

windowswhatsappFrom Bluestacks menu, click the icon “search” located at the right of the dialog windows and write “Whatsapp” in the search form. As you type Bluestacks will list the applications that meet the search criteria. Now click on the Install button next to WhatsApp Messenger. Wait until the end of the download process of WhatsApp. Once the download is complete, WhatsApp will be installed automatically and, after the installation, the program icon will appear in the list of the installed applications (see “My Apps”).

N.B. If you can not download WhatsApp and appears an error message like “No app Found. Check network connectivity”, You can download WhatsApp from the PC through the official download page of WhatsApp for Android.

After launching the Whatsapp installation file, a new window appears: click on “Confirm and continue” to start the configuration process. The following screen prompts you to enter the phone number to be associated with your WhatsApp client. Just put your mobile number to perform the verification process through SMS or voice message.
Wait until the progress bar is complete, in the meantime you will receive a text message with the WhatsApp Code on the phone number entered before. In case the SMS verification failed it’s possible to make the voice verification to receive the verification Code: just click on the button “Call me” and you will receive an automatic phone call that will tell you the 3-digit code to be entered.
After verification, you can complete the installation by entering the Username you want to use.
Done! You are now ready to use WhatsApp on Windows OS / PC !

WhatsApp, the popular instant messaging service, is also available on Windows Phone smartphone. The only requirements to install and use relate to the version of the platform running, that has to be Windows Phone 7.5 or Windows Phone 8, and an active Internet connection. However, before exploring how to install Whatsapp on your Windows phone, please remember that this app is compatible not just on Windows smartphones but also with Android, iOS, Symbian Nokia and Blackberry’s OS. It boasts high numbers of downloads on a worldwide scale, and you can communicate with users from other countries without additional charges. Windows smartphones sometimes come with pre-installed apps. If you have this app already pre-installed, then you can just update the app if it’s not the latest version you have.

To download WhatsApp, follow these steps:
Make sure you have the latest update for your Windows mobile phone operating system. If you don’t, then do the update first. Next, go to the download page of the app from your phone. There are two ways you can do this: From Start, tap the Marketplace icon and search by typing the app’s name. It will be on the top results. You can also open your mobile browser. Type this into the address bar: http://www.whatsapp.com/wp/. This will take you directly to the download page.
