Another surprise in store for the pleasure of WhatsApp users. In fact, another update of WhatsApp for Windows Phone has just been released and is already available on the beta channel. This new version brings further improvements to UI which will surely be appreciated by WhatsApp users. So, what changes with this latest Beta version 2.16.44 of WhatsApp for Windows Phone?

The first change that you will notice is the position of the call button, that has been moved, and now you can find it on the top right corner. This is a smart move. In fact, even if you don’t realize it immediately, this small change will help you not to make accidental calls, since the call button is no more close to the enter button. Definitely really helpful. Furthermore, now you can find the profile picture of the person with whom you are chatting, next to the call button at the top, and that’s nice too.

As we said, this latest 2.16.44 version of WhatsApp for Windows Phone is a Beta, so it is not yet available for all Windows Phone users, but just for those who are allowed to test it. But certainly a stable version containing all the improvements recently added will soon be available for everyone.

Clearly WhatsApp doesn’t want to lose its supremacy in the instant messaging field, and is working more than usual to satisfy its many (1 billion) users. All the platforms supporting WhatsApp (above all Android, but you can use the app also on Windows Phones, iPhones, BlackBerry and Nokia devices) are regularly receiving  updates, and rumours report that the video calling feature will soon be available.

And much more is going to come if it’s true what Jan Koum (WhatsApp CEO) promised when he said that starting from this year new tools will be tested, allowing users to communicate with businesses and organisations more easily.

There isn’t a single day without some news coming from WhatsApp. This successful multi-platform instant messaging app (now the most used around the world with one billion monthly active users) is constantly improving, and its developers work really hard to constantly update the app and give its followers always new features. As you certainly know, WhatsApp can be used with several operating systems such Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Blackberry and Nokia (unfortunately the last one only until the end of the year), but most of its users enjoy the app through the Android platform.

And talking about Android, today we are going to see what changes with the new 2.16.59 APK. Unfortunately there aren’t any new features, but, as usual, there have been bug fixes. The size of this latest 2.16.59 beta version of WhatsApp for Android is 27 MB and is available for Android devices version 2.1. and higher. You won’t find this new APK on the Google Play Store, but you can always download it from other sites such as apkmirror.com or apkpure.com.

If WhatsApp is literally adored by its many users, we can not always say the same thing about governments, and what’s happening in Brazil during the last few days confirms that their relationship with the Facebook-owned app is sometimes controversial. According to recent statistics, Brazil, is one of the countries where WhatsApp is loved the most (96% of Brazilians use WhatsApp), but nonetheless the app is living quite difficult times.

In fact, for the second time, a judge in the Brazilian state of Sergipe decided to temporarily (72 hours) suspend the Facebook-owned app, but luckily this decision was revoked on appeal. Mark Zuckerberg in person celebrated the result of the appeal, and asked the support of Brazilian citizens to prevent future bans using these words in a Facebook post: “WhatsApp is now back online in Brazil! Your voices have been heard once again. Thank you to our community for helping resolve this,” adding “That said, the idea that everyone in Brazil can be denied freedom to communicate the way they want is very scary in a democracy. You and your friends can help make sure this never happens again, and I hope you get involved,”

For this reason he asked Brazilian citizens to gather before the nation’s Congress to support the introduction of new laws that would prevent the ban of services like WhatsApp. But what happened during the block? Brazilians used other similar platforms like Telegram and iMessage, using VPN services to access WhatsApp.

This week opens with great news for WhatsApp users. In fact, it seems that the Facebook-owned instant messaging app is working on a native app for Microsoft and Apple desktop operating systems. You might say: where is the news, this app already exists and it’s called WhatsApp Web. That’s true, but what WhatsApp is going to launch (it seems …) is something different and new.

Let’s see what could change in the near future. In order to use WhatsApp Web, you currently need to use your smartphone to connect the app on a desktop computer. This happens thanks to a QR code within the app (you can find it going to Settings > WhatsApp Web) that the users need to scan to connect their computer to the smartphone. Well, with this new native desktop client, users will be finally able to use WhatsApp straight on their PC or MAC avoiding this quite long procedure.

Unfortunately this latest release is not yet official, but everyone on the web is already talking about it after a series of screenshots have been posted on Twitter by WABetaInfo. These screenshots seem to be translation requests from the WhatsApp team and include quite informative phrases such as “OS Versions Supported By WhatsApp Native client“, “Download for Mac OS X” or “Download for Windows“.

As we said, for the moment WhatsApp owners have not yet confirmed or commented the news of the release of this new desktop app, so it is not possible for us to know if this screenshots are authentic or not. What’s true is the incredible and unstoppable success of the app, and it is plausible that its developers are working on something “big”.

For example, recently we have talked about the possible forthcoming addition  of an in-built voicemail system and the instant call-back feature. But, honestly, what we are really waiting for is the video calling feature.

WhatsApp, our beloved multi-platform mobile messaging app, really knows how to please (and amaze) its many users. So, no wonder if the success of this popular instant messaging app is constantly growing, and now the app has reached the incredible goal of 1 billion monthly active users.

Think about all the improvements that have been added just during the last year. First of all the $0.99 subscription fee has been definitively cancelled. Then the addition of many useful features such as the voice-calling, the new formatting tools or the file sharing option, just to mention a few of them. And what about the end-to-end encryption option? This latest (and debated) feature was strongly supported by the founders of WhatsApp, Brian Acton and Jan Koum, to secure the privacy of WhatsApp users.

Recently there are unrelenting rumours about the addition of the video calls feature, and this time they seem to be more and more close to reality. There is also something more that could be the turning point for the Facebook-owned app: the addition of voicemail and call back option! According to PhoneRadar, it seems that these new features will be added soon, along with the ability to send Zip files. Thanks to the Call Back feature, users will be able to return calls without even opening WhatsApp. As for the voicemail feature, that it seems will be added at first on iOS devices, it will have two different buttons: ‘Record Voice Mail‘ and ‘Send Voice Mail‘. Both the features will be shown during your call.

And that’s not all, because the founders of WhatsApp have great projects in mind. In fact, according to Jan Koum (WhatsApp CEO) “Starting this year, we will test tools that allow you to use WhatsApp to communicate with businesses and organisations that you want to hear from,” adding “We all get these messages elsewhere today – through text messages and phone calls – so we want to test new tools to make this easier to do on WhatsApp, while still giving you an experience without third-party ads and spam.”

More updates are available for WhatsApp users. Thanks to the release of this latest 4.25 version, important changes have been added to WhatsApp Plus for Android, along with many bug fixes. The first noticeable option added is the end-to-end encryption, that now works on the WhatsApp Plus app as well.

Another useful option added is the ability to send documents in XML, ppt, txt, doc and PDF formats. Furthermore, you can now convert images from circular to a square. Last but not least, now you can finally use WhatsApp Plus to make your calls without the risk that the app will crash. In fact the annoying bug that was causing this problem has now been definitively fixed.

That said, now let’s see how to install WhatsApp Plus 4.25 on your Android Device. It’s really not that difficult. In order to install this latest version of WhatsApp Plus, the first thing you need to do is to enable the “Unknown Sources” option by going to Settings > Applications (or Settings > Security). Once you’ve completed this step, open the internet and search for the WhatsApp Plus 4.25 APK file and download it to your Android device (make sure that you remember where you have saved it).

At this point, go to the folder where you have saved the WhatsApp Plus 4.25 APK file. In order to launch the installation of the file on your device, you simply have to tap on it. In fact, you probably don’t remember (or actually you don’t know) that originally WhatsApp Plus was added to the Google Play Store. But some issues have immediately arisen, and Google received the request to remove WhatsApp Plus from the official Android store directly from the owners of WhatsApp. What was the reason for this request? This latest version confirms all new features that have been added with the previous beta updates. So, to recap, this is what you’ll find if you install this latest 2.16.42 stable version of WhatsApp on your Android device: first of all (obviously) the now famous end-to-end encryption option; the camera interface has been substantially revamped and improved; you can now format you text and use bold, italic and strikethrough; last but not least, you can share with your contacts Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents.

This latest 2.16.42 stable version of WhatsApp for Android weighs 23.74 MB and its build number is 451112. As we said above, you can download it from the Google Play Store, or, if you don’t find it on the Store, you can download it from the internet. In the latter case, pay attention to choose a trusted website such as APK Mirror. It is not difficult to download files from the APK, you simply have to remember to enable the Unknown Sources option on your device and follow the instructions.

Lastly, if you are wondering when you can finally use the Video Calling feature, we don’t have a release date yet, but, according to some rumours, the option will be added soon.
